The mission of the GW Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Social and Behavioral Sciences in Public Health program is to educate individuals who are committed to making a difference by solving public health problems using social and behavioral research.

The George Washington University's Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration serves more than 400 students each year as they pursue post-secondary education in public policy, public administration and environmental resource policy.

The multidisciplinary doctorate in public policy, gender and social policy program is offered in partnership with the GW Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration (TSPPPA).PhD students write a dissertation in addition to completing required and elective coursework in feminist theory and public policy.

Undergraduate Program BBA with a concentration in Business Economics and Public Policy The BBA with a concentration in Business Economics and Public Policy field is concerned with the continuing business-government dialogue that leads to effective decision-making and equitable relations between the private and public sectors of society.

GW’s MA in Public Policy With a Concentration in Philosophy and Social Policy addresses questions of public policy from a humanistic perspective. Through small classes, students apply the normative, historical and logical tools of philosophical inquiry to today’s policy issues.

Public Policy Public policy faculty have a wide range of research interests, from decision making in the executive branch and the ways Congress interacts with public policy to federal funding for higher education and the politics of urban areas.

Graduates typically find jobs in policy or advocacy oriented nonprofit organizations and public agencies. Some students choose to apply coursework for this degree to a PhD in public policy and public administration at GW. The WGSS Program also offers an MA in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.

Leighton Ku, PhD, MPH. Professor and Director of the Center for Health Policy Research. As a health policy researcher, a public policy analyst, and an advocate, Dr. Ku's career has been built around the effort to understand and improve access to affordable health care for vulnerable populations.

Career Options in Business Economics and Public Policy. BEPP field students most often seek careers in business, government, law, and consulting. Past BEPP students have found jobs in business and consulting firms in the DC area, often followed (after a year or two) with law school or an MBA. Other students go directly to law school.
